Yeah, custom brush fascination. Every digital painter been there. Your favourite artist sharing his brush library. Instant download. But, do we really know what that particular artist wanted to achieve by creating his set? No. We only get brushes. So, it's strongly recommended to create your own library. To treat your brush as solution to the problem.
As I said yesterday, I'm gonna share with you stuff that I'm currently working with. Lately I have been experimenting with brush editor in Photoshop aiming for resembling some traditional media tools. I really love traditional charcoal and I couldn't find any on the web. So I decided to create one. Gathered reference, tried to remind myself how it feels on the paper and by trial and error I achieved something that I'm sharing with you. Realistic charcoal brush. I'm sharing it mainly as an encouragement to experiment and make your own little brush. Try it yourself, maybe improve. And if you like it, pass it on :)

ReplyDelete3 miechy temu zrobiłem bardzo podobny set brushy dla Krita, choć jeszcze ich nie opublikowałem. No i moje potrzebują Art Pena, myślę by zrobić wersję z Tiltem i Direction'em.
Na jakiej zasadzie działają twoje, czy to jeden pędzel? PS ma beznadziejny kursor, który nie animuje się razem z dynamiką... epic fail moim zdaniem. Choć Krita nie animuje outline'a zanim nie dotkniesz płótna, jest to zaplanowane jako milestone za 2 wersje i muszę przygotować dokumentacje projektu nowego kursora.
Na razie, najlepsze kursory mają Gimp i Painter.
Uwielbiałem węgiel drzewny :) fajnie się nim rzeźbi edge, ale mam też pędzel imitujący pędzelek do makijażu z pudrem, brudny oraz czysty wisher + splatery, mokre pędzle i fany do rozmazywania i graficznych stroke'ów.
